Apex Legends splits its Legends into five classes: Assault, Controller, Recon, Skirmisher and Support. For new players, Lifeline and Bloodhound are the easiest, most forgiving picks, while Loba is among the most played. This guide covers each Legend's Passive, Tactical and Ultimate and who they suit.

The roster grows every season, so check in-game if a newer Legend is missing here. We list them by class in order of release. For the guns that go with them, see our Apex Legends weapons ranking.

Assault Legends

Bangalore

Bangalore, an Apex Legends character

Her Smoke Grenade breaks line of sight, and since Season 20 upgrading it also heals her. Double Time gets her to cover quickly, and Rolling Thunder makes a large area dangerous, which forces enemies to decide whether reviving a downed teammate is worth it.

Fuse

Fuse, an Apex Legends character

The best grenadier in the game. He carries more grenades, throws them faster and bounces them better off walls. Knuckle Duster works as a cluster bomb at mid-range, and The Motherlode sets a zone on fire. Be careful in tight rooms, since you can trap yourself with the enemy.

Ash

Ash, an Apex Legends character

Marked For Death shows whether a squad is still alive from their death boxes. Her Tactical snares a single enemy, and Phase Breach opens a portal that is useful for ambushes and escapes. She needs more thinking than the others.

Mad Maggie

Mad Maggie, an Apex Legends character

The Rebel Warlord focuses on shotguns and area control. Riot Drill flushes squads out of cover and her Wrecking Ball Ultimate bounces through doors and walls to stun enemies.

Ballistic

Ballistic, an Apex Legends character

Sling lets him carry a third weapon, which helps for holding a spare for a teammate or keeping a late-game pick. His Tactical and Ultimate are situational, so he is harder to recommend.

Controller Legends

Caustic

Caustic, an Apex Legends character

Immune to his own Nox gas, he can wear down tightly packed squads in the late game. Other Caustics are immune too, so expect to be countered by the same pick.

Wattson

Wattson, an Apex Legends character

The Static Defender sets up electric fences and an Ultimate that destroys incoming ordnance and recharges shields. She is strong whenever you can hold a position.

Rampart

Rampart, an Apex Legends character

More of an assaulter than a pure controller. LMGs and her Ultimate, Sheila, give good covering fire, and Amped Cover is a flexible defensive tool.

Catalyst

Catalyst, an Apex Legends character

She reinforces doors and walkways with ferrofluid, and her Dark Veil wall blinds and slows anyone who walks through. Place it carefully, since it takes time to build. Her traps stay until she dies.

Recon Legends

Bloodhound

Bloodhound, an Apex Legends character

Marks fresh and old footsteps and scans a cone for traps and enemies. Their Ultimate sees through smoke and gas. A good first Legend for learning how fights develop.

Crypto

Crypto, an Apex Legends character

His drone scans a wide area for information, which suits teams on voice chat. While you pilot it you cannot do much else, so lean on teammates.

Seer

Seer, an Apex Legends character

Strong on paper, with a silence tool and recon, but slow to use and narrow in range. He has gone through peaks and troughs between patches.

Vantage

Vantage, an Apex Legends character

The sniper of the group. Echo lets her relocate quickly, and Sniper's Mark adds damage. Place yourself somewhere hard to reach, because the Ultimate laser can give you away.

Skirmisher Legends

Pathfinder

Pathfinder, an Apex Legends character

Grapple and zipline make him the movement tool for the whole squad. Scanning care packages lets him use his Ultimate more often.

Wraith

Wraith, an Apex Legends character

An easy pick-up. Into the Void gives a brief window of immunity and Dimensional Rift links two portals. Remember that enemies can use them too.

Octane

Octane, an Apex Legends character

Self-focused movement. He regains health after a short delay, and the Launch Pad throws his squad across the map.

Revenant

Revenant, an Apex Legends character

Leaps across gaps and up walls, and climbs quickly. Verticality takes some practice to feel natural.

Horizon

Horizon, an Apex Legends character

Gravity Lift pulls her and enemies upward, working as both movement and disruption. Do not leave yourself floating in the open.

Valkyrie

Valkyrie, an Apex Legends character

Her Skyward Dive launches the whole squad into the air. In flight she gathers information on anyone below and keeps good mobility.

Alter

Alter, an Apex Legends character

Void Passage breaks through walls, and her Ultimate can pull downed teammates to safety. She works best with squads that move fast or push in sudden attacks.

Support Legends

Gibraltar

Gibraltar, an Apex Legends character

The Shielded Fortress. His gun shield cuts incoming damage, and the Dome of Protection is a good if noticeable defence or escape.

Lifeline

Lifeline, an Apex Legends character

Easy to play and good for any team. Her drone heals and revives, and her Ultimate improves squad gear early on. No squad is worse off with her.

Mirage

Mirage, an Apex Legends character

Decoys confuse who is real. His invisibility makes reviving and using respawn beacons safer, and sets up flanks.

Loba

Loba, an Apex Legends character

Her loot-upgrading abilities make a whole squad stronger, which is why she is so heavily played. Eye For Quality also reveals nearby loot.

Newcastle

Newcastle, an Apex Legends character

Plays like Gibraltar. His shields have a large health pool and the Ultimate acts as a blockade for escapes and counter-pushes.

Conduit

Conduit, an Apex Legends character

The Shield Healer. Radiant Transfer speeds shield regeneration, and her Ultimate drops jammers that slow and damage enemies. Strong in crowded areas.

Choosing your Legend

If you are new, start with Lifeline or Bloodhound, then add a Skirmisher once you are comfortable with positioning. Pick Legends whose abilities cover what your squad lacks. We sell an Apex Legends cheat if you are curious, and it is listed on its own page. The live status page is worth a look before each session.
