What stands out

The game started near a million average players and dipped to roughly 735,000 in November 2023. It then climbed back and has stayed around the one-million mark since early 2025. Few shooters hold that kind of range for this long.

What moves the numbers

Updates and operations

New maps, cases and game mode changes bring lapsed players back. Peaks tend to follow major content drops.

Esports

Big tournaments such as the Majors and BLAST and ESL events put the game in front of millions of viewers, and some of them install it afterwards.

Balance changes

Economy changes to weapon prices or round rules can briefly shake the playerbase while it adjusts.

Other shooters

A big Valorant or Call of Duty release can draw some players away for a while, and many come back.

Cheating and trust

Complaints about cheaters hurt confidence in matchmaking. Valve's anti-cheat is an ongoing issue in the community, so read up on the risks to your account if you think about using anything.

Where it goes next

With a strong esports scene and regular updates, we would expect CS2 to stay near its current range. That is an opinion, not a forecast. For a comparison with another tactical shooter, read Valorant vs CS2. Our own product for the game is on the CS2 cheat page.
