On 15 October 2026, NetEase posted that some Marvel Rivals mods use memory injection, the same technique cheat software uses, and that they set off the game's anti-cheat. Accounts suspended for these mods in the two days before were restored, but NetEase says anyone who keeps using them will be punished from now on (NetEase, Use of Mods and Violation Management, 15 October). Here is what counts, and what else is new in Season 10.5.
Which mods NetEase now treats as cheating
NetEase lists four kinds of mod that give an unfair advantage:
- Changed models or textures that let you see players who cannot see you.
- No recoil or no effects: removing screen shake, bullet trails and hit effects so aiming and tracking get easier.
- Changed audio: louder footsteps or sounds that give away enemy positions.
- Bigger character models that make enemies easier to spot and hit.
It also named two files to delete, pystubber.asi and MarvelRivalsUnmountBlocker.asi, because they modify the client in a way the anti-cheat detects directly.
What happened to the first bans
Players suspended over the two days before the post had their suspensions lifted. NetEase was clear that this is a one-off warning, not permission: anyone who keeps using these mods will be penalised under the normal rules. If you think a mod ban was a mistake, NetEase says you can appeal through official customer support.
The takeaway is simple. Marvel Rivals' anti-cheat looks for memory injection and changed game files, whatever the reason behind them. A cosmetic mod that touches the client the same way a cheat does gets treated the same way.
What is new in Season 10.5
Season 10.5 started on 9 October 2026 and is built around new modes based on the Avengers films (Season 10.5 patch notes):
- Path to Doomsday: Avengers Infinity War puts 12 players into six duos racing to collect all six Infinity Stones. It runs until 11 December.
- Path to Doomsday: Avengers Endgame arrived with the 22 October patch and opened on 24 October in timed sessions over four weeks. Playing it earns a free Captain America costume, and the event runs until 26 November (Version 20261022 patch notes).
- Infinity Finale is the season event, with a free Thor costume for completing its quests.
- New store costumes this season include Devil Dinosaur, Blade, Cyclops, Black Cat, Elsa Bloodstone and Jeff the Land Shark.
